When it comes to styling my mane, the blow out is one of my go-to styles. However, it hasn’t been easy to get right! I’m still tweaking and perfecting my process to streamline it and make it fool-proof, so that every time I step up to my hair dryer I’m leave with consistent results. That being said, by using the below products, I’m the closest I’ve ever been to achieving the perfect at-home blow out.
I always start with Oribe’s Foundation Mist. No matter what look I’m going for, I start with this. My hair is fine, but I have a LOT of it, so I was looking for a detangling, leave-in conditioner and this item stood out to me . This product preps my hair beautifully, no matter if I’m air drying or getting ready for the perfect blow out.
Next up, Bumble and bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. This stuff is AMAZING!!! This made an apperance on my on my first Wednesday Wishlist, and for good reason. Not only does it leave my hair feeling incredibly soft and manageable, it has UV and heat protective qualities while de-frizzing and adding shine. Miracle potion? I think yes! For styles where I’m going for a little more texture I tend to leave this out, but its a perfect add for my at-home blow out.
I love all things Pureology, especially because I highlight my hair. I was browsing Ulta the other day and came across this in the Pureology aisle, and after reading the description decided to give it a go. I was a little scared at first because the consistency of the product was so thick, I thought there is no way I’ll be able to evenly distribute it! But that wasn’t the case at all. Using my fingers, I put a quarter sized dollop in my hair after it is about 40% air dried. I then brush it through (after applying the below mousse) to ensure even distribution .
Last, but not least, Big Sexy Hair’s Big Altitude Bodifying Blow Dry Mousse. I have always been intimidated by this line of hair care for some reason, but after reading this post I decided to give it a try. I’ve been on the hunt for a volumizing mousse that provides lift and body, but was still touchable and this product totally fits that description! I apply a palm sized dollop around my part and crown area using my fingers, and then brush it through as I mentioned above.
Whewwww, ok, here comes the fun part. Using my hairdryer, I then rough dry my hair until its about 80% dry, focusing on the top and front pieces. I then section my hair with these clips, and use this brush, this brush, and/or this brush (I know, a lot of brushes) depending on the section of hair I’m drying. Smaller diameter brushes on shorter layers (bottom layers) and larger diameter brushes on longer layers (top layer). I use my hair dryer on the hottest setting, but the lowest air output. However to set the style, I give each layer a blast on the coldest setting. I know that seems like a lot, but I’ve got this process down to 30 minutes, tops. Not bad when you only have to do this every three days
